Orange friend-o-meter is an interactive microsite that would quiz you about your friend’s fact in social networks.
The microsite connects to Facebook, Myspace and Twitter, gathers all interesting facts and constructs a specific question for the user. Along the quiz a character will accompany the user, support and express an emotional feedback toward user

The user can choose on which social networks he wants to be questioned. A total of 10 questions are prepared for the user and a score will be given at the end to judge the user performance.

Question display, social networks selection and end of quiz page as well as feedback to the user from the machine.

Know The Signs lets you find out which of five embarrassing characters you or your friends are when you have one drink too many. An interactive experience with high quality video, fast load times, localized in many languages. There is a great post on viralblog about the rest of the integrated campaign.

Hello Stranger

Hello Stranger is a Master of Digital Media Design graduation project, an interactive installation consist of physical construction combined with digital content. The concept is to represent the connection between dream and reality in human life. Sanneke Prinss has been exploring theoritically this concept before we decided to cooperate to realize this project. Built from ground up, this project has taught us many things regarding concept, technical, management and process.

The installation consists of 2 physical structure, one is a metallic cylinder where the user is forced to lay down to enter and stare at 8 x 8 lightbulbs formation that lights up different patterns. On the other hand a touch screen video based installation acts as a trigger and showing the reaction of person on the other installation.

A video documentation below, shows and explained how the installation works and interacts with the user.

Before the real installation is built, we created a prototype to better picture how the installation will be, a monitor with touch screen is connected to a mini wood-based circular contrsuction with several LEDs hanging.

The installation used 64 lightbulbs, around 20 meters cable, 18 meters of steel pipe, 4 webcams, a linux server, 2 arduino boards and involved 9 members. Many thanks to the Utrecht School of Arts for all the supports.

Nestle Extreme

Nestle Extreme is a campaign microsite with the concept of interactive video narrative.
The user is able to compose a short video by manipulating the order of available footages. Furthermore, the microsite enable the user to add their voice to the video by using text to voice technology, beside this color manipulation and soundtrack selections are also available.

An intuitive user interface is developed to help user manipulate the color faster, a pixel bender engine was developed to accomodate this. An interactive timeline to compose footages is carefully developed and tested to allow user to work fast and effective.

Interactive timeline that allow user to compose footages into a short movie and gallery for the saved user works, able to save and show massive data without losing performance.

Mijn Naam is Haas

Mijn Naam is Haas (My name is Haas) is an interactive computer application that help children to learn dutch language. Using appealing characters, top notch animation and innovative interface, the game has succesfully tested and immersed many kindergarten students througout the Netherlands.

note: This project started as a student project in Utrecht School of Arts in which I was part of the group that developed the prototype, currently the project has expanded into a real successful product by some of the original former members of group in school. I’m really proud of their achievement.

The unique interface allows the children to draw and create different objects and animals in the colorful world where the main character lives.

During the game, the child who is playing is presented with different challenge to help other animals, thus learning couple of words about the animal itself thorugh conversation and audio.

Toshiba Leading Innovation

A website with an experimental mouse gesture navigation system. Interaction is done by drawing signs over the site, a circle, a spiral, a zig-zag. Every sign produces a graphical result, every character reacts with a different action. Loading time was used as a tutorial for the navigation system.
